The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) and its Department held a Korban Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha for the year 1440 Hijrah / 2019 Masehi on Tuesday, 12th Zulhijjah 1440H / 13th August 2019M, together with associated statutory bodies. Jointly organized by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Autoriti Elektrik Negara Brunei Darussalam (AENBD), MEMI, the event was held at the Banquet Hall, Prime Minister's Office Building. Present at the event as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry.
Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy); Yang Mulia Awang Haji Zolkiflee bin Haji Abdul Karim, Permanent Secretary (Manpower); Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Industry); Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Industry) of the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry as well as officers and staff from MEMI, Department of Electrical Services, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), Safety Health Environment National Authority (SHENA) and the Brunei National Energy Research Institute (BNERI).
The event began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Yang Mulia Awang Anuar bin Haji Salim, the Imam of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. The event then proceeded with the distribution of the Korban meat to more than 300 recipients comprising of the staff of MEMI and its Department as well as residents within the vicinity of Mukim Berakas who are classified as Asnaf Fakir Miskin. A total of 3 buffaloes and 2 goats were sacrificed for the event.
