11-Nov-2019 : The Official Launching of the Brunei Halal Showcase 2019 (BruHAS 2019)

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry launched the Brunei Halal Showcase 2019 (BruHAS 2019) on 11th November 2019 at BRIDEX Hall 2, Jerudong. Launched together with the 4th International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT IV), the showcase brings together businesses, government official, private sectors representatives, academia and international traders in the halal sectors. BruHAS 2019 is being held from 11th to 15th November 2019 and was organized by the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) in collaboration with Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and its strategic partners including the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and the Ministry of Health (MOH). The event is supported by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Laksamana College of Business (LCB).

Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Deputy State Mufti; Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry; Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry and Yang Mulia Dr. Awang Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA.  

The launching ceremony started with welcoming remarks from, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry, who later launched the BruHAS 2019.

A keynote presentation on "Enhancing Halal Hub Sustainibility: State Mufti Contribution of Fatwa" was also delivered by Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, Brunei Darussalam's Deputy State Mufti of Brunei

The BruHAS 2019 is a part of the Ministry and UNISSA collaborative effort to provide awareness on the development of the Halal industry and its contribution to the nation's economy. It aims to link  players in the halal sector, including relevant government agencies, industry players, academia and entrepreneurs by sharing the latest academic findings and industry's best practices while providing a platform for Halal industry entrepreneurs to showcase Halal products and services.

Concurrent events will also be conducted during BruHAS 2019, namely the BruHAS Halal Expo, the 4th International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT IV), a Business Matching session and the BruHAS Halal Clinic.

The 4th International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services (SAPPHAT IV) will bring together local and international academia, relevant government agencies and industry players. Jointly organized by MEMI and UNISSA, the seminar is being held from 11th to 12th November 2019. The seminar featured a series of talk and research findings by local and international academia on Halalan Thayyiban and its applications in the Halal industry. Among its objectives is to provide academic awareness on the existing research and latest developments on the Halalan Thayyiban concept in compliance with syariah laws and regulations. The seminar also featured a forum entitled "Enhancing Halal Hub Sustainability through Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services".

The Ministry in collaboration with DARe will be organizing a Business Matching session that will be held on 11th to 12th November 2019. The session serves as a platform for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to connect with the local and regional Halal industry players.

Meanwhile, the BruHAS Halal Expo will be opened to public on 11th to 12th November 2019 from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm and on the 13th to 15th November 2019 from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. On 15th November 2019, the expo will be close for Friday prayers and will resume from 2.00 pm to 10.00 pm. The expo are participated by Halal industry players, SMEs, MSMEs and  comprising of localand international companies from the food industry, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, personal care, modest fashion, , household products and Halal service providers.

The BruHAS Halal Clinic is being held on 14th November 2019 from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The Clinic is an open and interactive session for the public to enquire and seek advice on subjects related to Halal certificate and permit applications, guidelines and standards, Halal investments and analysis.
