An Executive Strategic Planning Workshop was conducted at the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa Technology Park by the executive management of the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry today to refine the Ministry’s plans towards the further development of the energy and industry sectors, along with supporting plans to strengthen national manpower to meet these needs. Employment of locals is also a key component of this Ministry’s Strategic Plan.
The strategic review is timely as it allows goal-setting for 2019. It builds upon the efforts and lessons from 2018, while ensuring that urgency and ambition continue to be captured in the Ministry’s 5-Year Strategic Plan. Aimed at ensuring that the Ministry contributes to national socio-economic development in the face of changing global economic trends as espoused by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam in His Majesty’s Titah in conjunction with the New Year 2019, the Ministry conducts regular reviews to ensure that its strategic plan is relevant to current and future challenges.
During the discussions, implementation of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan was also emphasised, whereby plans with the best intentions should begin to be realised over the coming year.
The Workshop was chaired by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry and joined by YM Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry; YM Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy); YM Pg Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pg Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Industry); YM Awang Haji Zolkiflee bin Haji Abdul Karim, Permanent Secretary (Manpower); YM Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Energy and Power); and YM Hajah Tutiaty binti Abdul Wahab, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Industry).
This exercise is part of the Ministry’s annual review of its Strategic Plan. The Ministry’s Strategic Plan is the culmination of collective bottom-up and top-down visioning efforts across all levels of the organisation, while also including cross-stakeholder collaboration and engagement. The finalised strategic plan will be rolled out at a subsequent Ministry-wide Town Hall event.
