The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry through the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat (BCCS) organised the Brunei National Climate Policy Drafting Committee (CPDC) 1st Session – Policy Framing & Drafting Workshop on 21st October 2019 at the Institute of Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA) Building, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The workshop was attended by over 54 representatives from government sector, private sector and the non-government organization (NGO) including youth representatives who participated in an active discussion to reduce the impact of climate change. Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy), Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry.
The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI), in collaboration with the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), will be organizing the Brunei Halal Showcase 2019 (BruHAS 2019) with the support of its strategic partners including the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), the Ministry of Health (MOH) as its strategic partners. The event will be also be supported by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Laksamana College of Business (LCB). The event will take place over a period of five (5) days from 11th to 15th November 2019 at the BRIDEX Hall 1 and 2, Jerudong.
The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI), in collaboration with the Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP), hosted the Late Life Field Management and Technology Workshop on 14th October 2019 at the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa. Present at the Opening Ceremony of the workshop as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy), Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry. The event was also attended by Her Excellency Gunn Jorid Roset, Norwegian Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, and Yang Mulia Awang Haji Ahmad bin Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa, Norwegian Honorary Consulate in Brunei Darussalam.
A total of 137 trainees from Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) representing the first and second batch of 169 trainees are currently on training at Institusi Teknologi Petroleum (INSTEP) Petronas in Terengganu, Malaysia. Upon their successful completion of training, the trainees will be offered a permanent job with BFI to operate the ammonia and urea plants expected to commence full commercial operations in 2021.
Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Acting Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry officiated the opening ceremony of the "Student Solar Ambassador Workshop" as the Guest of Honour on 2nd October 2019. Jointly organized by Kemuda Institute Sdn. Bhd and CIC Environmental Services Sdn. Bhd and High Commission of India to Brunei Darussalam, the event was held at the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). The workshop aims to target 500 students from 10 schools in Brunei Darussalam to become solar ambassadors.
In reference to a video that was made viral through various social media platforms including WhatsApp involving a fight amongst workers wearing orange coverall in a workers canteen, the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry would like to inform the public that the video originated from another country and the allegation that it had taken place at Pulau Muara Besar is false and malicious.
The Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry, Yang Berhormat Dato Dr Awang Hj Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussein, attended a series of key meetings and events in Tokyo, Japan which were linked to Brunei Darussalam's key energy assets and the future of energy security. These comprised of the 2nd Hydrogen Energy Ministerial Meeting in the morning of 25th September 2019, the International Conference on Carbon Recycling 2019 in the afternoon of 25th September 2019 and the LNG Producer – Consumer Conference 2019 on 26th September 2019, organised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan in partnership with various agencies.
74 participants from various government agencies and private sectors attended "the Labour Market Information System" Workshop on Tuesday, 24th September 2019 at the Banquet Hall, Prime Minister's Office Building. The Workshop was organized by the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI), in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), Ministry of Finance and Economy. Present as the Guest of Honour during the opening session of the workshop was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry.
